As you all are fully aware, Covid-19 has caused the suspension of sports activity in Kuwait since Mid-March 2020. Given the great health, social and economic benefits that sports provides to individuals and society as a whole, many countries around the world have worked to develop mechanisms for resuming sports activity by applying health measures that guarantee the health and safety of players and officials alike whereby the set rules & regulations by government authorities are to be taken extremely seriously by all components of the Olympic movement.
Resuming the sports activity is, therefore, deemed to be an important factor and we all hope and pray for the return of normal life in our beloved country Kuwait as well as around the world.
Kuwait Cricket being affiliated to the Public Authority of Sport as well as the Kuwait Olympic Committee is closely monitoring the developments and is in constant communication with the relevant government authorities and has therefore been informed that team sports activity in Kuwait is most likely to resume from 13 th September 2020 onwards subject to the pandemic staying under control.
As part of Kuwait Cricket’s commitment to ongoing domestic editions of Desert, Premier, Banks
(Corporate) as well as KKPL, the plan is to conclude all the pending editions of 2019-20 (Sept-Oct) first before commencing the new season of 2020-21 (November onwards).
In order to do so, all the teams participating in the pending editions of desert and premier are hereby requested to confirm the availability of their teams and players by or before the 25th of August so the KC domestic department can accordingly schedule the remainder of the matches including knockouts by or before the 30th of August.
Those teams who are struggling to participate in the remainder of the pending matches due to lack of players keeping in mind the pandemic that has led to many residents traveling back to their home countries are requested to inform the KC Domestic department by or before the 25th of August:
1.) Head of Domestic Cricket & Operations (Mr. Rishi D Jayan)
2.) Domestic Tournaments Manager (Mr. Husnain Arshad)
The KC Domestic department will have an internal discussion with the technical committee to find a solution for such teams accordingly.
We are really looking forward to welcoming all the KC registered teams and players back to Kuwait Cricket grounds from mid September onwards, however, this will only be achieved by abiding with the Ministry of Health guidelines which will be shared with you all before the resumption of domestic cricket in mid September as guided by the government authorities, in particular the public authority of sport.
